CSL recently completed a CPT program to aid in the development of a new interchange for a major highway in Manitoba. This project involved a series of SCPTu soundings. Given the clay materials encountered at the site, dissipation testing was completed to provide the client with a t50 time and pore pressure (u) at this depth. CSL’s team provided instantaneous testing results to the client so that effective testing locations could be chosen. Additional SCPTu soundings were added to CSL’s scope of work for this project.

CSL’s team completed a series of SCPTu soundings at an existing hydro dam location that has a highway through it in Northern Ontario. This data was used by the client to verify current conditions on the upstream and downstream sides of the dam. SCPTu soundings were completed once rockfill was drilled through. CSL’s team completed this work in harsh winter conditions along a roadway with limited access.

STMF/ETMF Underdrain System (2020-21)
As part of the expansion process of Lac des Iles Mine, additional tailings storage capacity was required. The approach is a series of upstream and downstream hybrid raises which required underdrains to control dissipation of porewater pressures. CSL’s roles in the project:

CSL is the engineer on record for the closure of an advanced exploration project for Impala Canada Ltd.
